On Thursday, January 16 at 12 o’clock, the Real Instituto Elcano once again presents its annual edition of collective work that analyses the prospects of the international scene and the short-term challenges for Spanish foreign action.
Presented and moderated by José Juan Ruiz, president of the Real Instituto Elcano, and members of the Research Team of the Real Instituto Judith Arnal, Carlota García Encina, Ignacio Molina, Ernesto Talvi and José Vericat.
In 2025, the world’s spotlight is on both the continuation of the war in Ukraine and the convulsions in the Middle East as well as Donald Trump’s return to the White House and his disruptive agenda, which may complicate the transatlantic relationship and sharpen the confrontation with China. The EU is about to start a new legislature which will have as its major challenge the adaptation to the new technological, energy and geopolitical reality, in a context of erosion of the European coalition and changes of government in Germany and France.
In the new year, Spain’s foreign policy will be marked by a desire to play a leading role in strategic areas (Latin America, migration, the Mediterranean and the European budget) and conditioned by intense internal polarization.
To attend in person please send confirmation of attendance to the mail confirmations@rielcano.org. Limited capacity. The event will be held in Spanish without simultaneous interpretation.
