<h6><strong>The Diplomat</strong></h6> <h4><strong>Purificación Causapié, former regional and municipal representative of the PSOE in Madrid, has been appointed to the position of general secretary of the Carolina Foundation.</strong></h4> Causapié's appointment took place on December 17 during the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Carolina Foundation, the highest governing body of the institution. At the meeting, chaired by King Felipe VI, the 2025 Action Plan was also approved, which will coincide with the twenty-fifth anniversary of its creation and which provides for an increase in scholarships in the area of human rights and democracy. Purificación Causapié, a graduate in Philosophy and Letters from the University of Alcalá de Henares, has dedicated her career to the design, management and planning of public policies focused on human rights, social services, gender equality, equal treatment and non-discrimination. Throughout her career, she has held important responsibilities, such as director of the Women's Delegation of the Fuenlabrada City Council, general director of Social Services and general secretary for Dependency Care in the Andalusian Regional Government, as well as general director of the Institute for the Elderly and Social Services (IMSERSO) of the Ministry of Health and Social Policy. She has also been executive secretary of the RIICOTECC (Ibero-American Intergovernmental Network for Technical Cooperation), councilor and spokesperson for the PSOE in the Madrid City Council, and deputy in the Madrid Assembly. Recently, as director of the Office of the Secretary of State for Relations with the Courts and Constitutional Affairs of the Ministry of the Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, she led the coordination of the II National Human Rights Plan (2023-2027). The Carolina Foundation was established in October 2000 as a cultural bridge between Spain and Latin America, as well as with other countries with which it maintains special cultural, historical and geographical ties. This public-private institution offers a wide range of scholarships to Ibero-American students and professionals every year, allowing them to pursue postgraduate studies at the best Spanish universities. In addition to the scholarships, the Carolina Foundation organizes numerous cultural and academic events that encourage the exchange of ideas and the strengthening of ties between both continents.
