Egypt’s Foreign Minister discusses his country’s efforts for a ceasefire in Gaza with Albares

The Diplomat The Minister of Foreign Affairs, José Manuel Albares, held a telephone conversation this Friday with his Egyptian counterpart, Badr Abdelatty, who explained to him the efforts that his country is making to achieve a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip. During the conversation, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a press release, both ministers reaffirmed the importance of the strategic relationship between Spain and Egypt and expressed their "firm will" to continue deepening bilateral cooperation in all areas, "especially in the context of the pressing challenges facing the international community." In this regard, the two ministers spoke about recent events in the region, in particular the situation in Syria and the Gaza Strip, and Abdelatty mentioned "the efforts that Egypt is making to achieve a ceasefire agreement in Gaza." During the conversation, the Minister of Foreign Affairs referred to his meeting last month in Madrid with Professor Khaled El-Enany, candidate for the post of Director General of UNESCO, endorsed by the African Union and the League of Arab States, and reiterated to his Egyptian counterpart the “full support of Spain” for his candidacy.
