Premiere at the Teatro de la Comedia in Madrid (calle Príncipe, 14) of the classic Farra, a montage co-produced by the Compañía Nacional de Teatro Clásico (CNTC) with the Company of Lucas Escobedo until 5 January 2025.
Farra is a baroque festival, a journey to the Golden Age inspired by texts of Lope de Vega, Agustín de Rojas, María de Zayas and María Díaz, among other authors.
As Lucas Escobedo explains: “Our Farra demands the celebration, enjoyment, the right to relax, culture, community in front of hyperactivity, overwork, consumption and speed of current times. We want to claim the value of words, theatre and music to develop our imagination; drink from our cultural heritage to cause a catharsis in the viewer, unleash laughter and exalt culture as salvation against discouragement”.
The cast is composed of: Alfonso Rodríguez, Irene Coloma, Jesús Irimia Xuspi, Lucas Escobedo, Paula Lloret and Raquel Molano.
Farra is the story of some comedians/as of the time, before and now, who offer the best they have, what they know best to do. During the Christmas holidays, everything is possible, rules change and the world is governed by paradoxes. It is the baroque party, the party, that opens the door to music, madness, magic or acrobatics between mojigangas, dances and rejoicing. And, like all subversion, the goal is to point out the madness of the past and present, to remove consciences and to hold meetings. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
