Open the call for curatorship of Nur 2025 Casa Árabe
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Until next March 7, 2025, Casa Árabe and PHotoESPAÑA present the fifth edition of Nur 2025 for the selection of an exhibition proposal of photographic character. The winning project will be exhibited at the Casa Árabe headquarters as part of the 28th edition of the PHotoESPAÑA International Photography Festival in 2025.

The objective of this open call is to give visibility and dissemination to a project that offers an insight into one or several aspects of Arab societies, from a contemporary curatorial perspective. Specifically, it invites exploring the concept of “After all” from a humanistic perspective that includes the experience of Arab countries.

The proposals are intended to address the revision and reconstruction of our societies, with a critical approach on the dynamics of post-conflict, post-colonialism, post-nature, transhumanism and post-photography. In particular, works that reflect on the complex realities of the Arab world in its process of transformation, resilience and reconstruction through photography will be valued.

The call invites participants to examine the scars left by historical struggles, the footprint of colonialism, contemporary challenges arising from conflicts and environmental crises, as well as the new forms of identity and representation that arise in a globalized and digital context. This event aims to show a critical and deep look at the processes of transformation that define the present and anticipate the challenges of the future, especially from a region marked by its own historical and cultural paths.

The call is addressed to national and international commissioners/as and institutions that demonstrate, thanks to the provision of a professional background, previous experience in developing exhibition projects.

The application may be for an individual project or a collective of artists.

For the project’s acceptance it is essential that the elaboration of the curatorial discourse provides a contemporary look at some facet concerning Arab societies from a contemporary curatorial perspective that includes the idea of “After all”, Thematic axis of PHotoESPAÑA 2025. Submit your proposal using this form.
