Together with the Fundación AMÁS and the sculptor FELIPAO, the Real Fábrica de Tapices presented last Monday the exhibition La mano de la vida, a limited edition of 30 unique sculptures in lowpoly format, created by Felipao and intervened by artists with intellectual disabilities of the Fundación AMÁS.

The exhibition, which can be visited at the Real Fábrica de Tapices until next 7 January 2025, was presented by Alejandro Klecker, general director of the Real Fábrica de Tapices; Carlos Pérez, president of Fundación AMÁS; Marisa Martínez Raposo, artist with intellectual disability; Mariano Hernández, artist with intellectual disability; and Felipe García-Bañon Sanz-Briz, Felipao.

The sculptor Felipao, whose real name is Felipe Garcia-Bañon Sanz-Briz, is an artist known for his colorful and cheerful works. Born into a family of diplomats, Felipao has lived in several countries, which has allowed him to develop a multifaceted vision of the world.

Established in Madrid since 1983, Felipao decided in 2009 to dedicate himself entirely to art after a successful career in the business world. His works have been exhibited in countries such as Germany, the United States, Hong Kong, Mexico and the United Kingdom, and are in important private collections. In his view, art should enrich the person’s intimate environment. His works, characterized by the use of bright colors and optimistic messages, seek to convey joy, strength and encouragement. Influenced by pop art, Felipao is defined as a self-taught and multidisciplinary artist whose inspiration comes from everything he sees, dreams and intuits.

The Fundación AMÁS is an organization that supports, exercises, promotes and defends the rights of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities located in the Community of Madrid. Provides daily support and opportunities to more than 2,000 people with intellectual disabilities and their families through 900 professionals and 200 volunteers. Spacio AMÁS is a project that, developed in its six occupational centers, offers opportunities, resources and knowledge for people to develop and make known their artistic discourse and professionalize the processes of their own work.
