<h6><strong>The Diplomat</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The State Secretary for Ibero-America and the Caribbean and Spanish in the World, Susana Sumelzo, and the Colombian ambassador to Spain, Eduardo Ávila, have participated in the last meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Spain-Colombia Council Foundation (FCECo), which will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the start of its activity in 2025.</strong></h4> The objective of the meeting, chaired by Trinidad Jiménez, President of the Council Foundation, and which took place on December 12 at the headquarters of Telefónica, was to approve the Action Plan planned for 2025 and to take stock of the year that is ending. The general director for Ibero-America and the Caribbean, Javier Gassó, also participated in the meeting. During the meeting, Susana Sumelzo and the ambassador, Eduardo Ávila, offered the political perspective of bilateral relations and identified new avenues for joint work through the FCECo mechanism to consolidate ties between both countries. The Spain-Colombia Council Foundation will celebrate the tenth anniversary of its start of activity in 2025 and the general secretary, Carmen Fernández Torres, highlighted to the Board of Trustees that this anniversary represents an opportunity to provide even greater vigor and autonomy to its activity and to recall the numerous milestones achieved in these ten years. The Action Plan for 2025 foresees the celebration, among other activities, of the Colombian Leaders Program, the III Barometer of economic-commercial relations Spain-Colombia 2025 or the support of the III Iberoamerica Diseña Congress. Seminars and other high-level events and meetings will also be held. In addition, the bilateral agenda includes the next Bogotá Book Fair, in which, according to the Instituto Cervantes, Spain will be the guest country. The State Secretary also outlined two events that Colombia will host: the Conference on Biological Diversity, COP16, and the IV CELAC-EU Summit, which will take place in Bogotá. The meeting also made it possible to review the different events held in the last six months and which are already included in the 2024 Activities Report, which was delivered to the Trustees at the Board meeting. During the meeting of the Board of Trustees, the new members of the Board of Trustees were welcomed: the law firm Martínez Quintero Mendoza González Laguado & De la Rosa, represented by Felipe Quintero, and Jaime Solís, as the new representative of Mapfre. The incorporation of the University of Salamanca to the Board of Trustees was also approved.
