The Turkish ambassador to Spain, Nüket Küçükel Ezberci, offered last Thursday an exclusive cultural meeting at the Génova Financial Club to introduce one of the most emblematic traditions of her country: Turkish coffee.
The event brought together prominent figures from the diplomatic and business world, including the ambassadors of Mali, Afghanistan, Albania, Andorra and Costa Rica.
Attendees had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of Turkish coffee, learn about its meticulous preparation process and learn about the protocol surrounding its tasting, a symbol of hospitality and friendship in Turkey.
During the session, experts in Turkish gastronomy explained how the finely ground coffee is slowly prepared in a small pot called a cezve, unfiltered and served in small cups. Beyond its preparation, the ritual includes reading fortunes in the coffee grounds, a popular tradition that adds a mystical touch to the experience.
The ambassador highlighted the importance of Turkish coffee as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, stressing that “each cup of Turkish coffee is served with a story and a desire to share special moments.”
This meeting was a unique opportunity to strengthen cultural ties between Turkey and various international representatives, creating a space for exchange and mutual understanding through a tradition full of history and meaning.
