The State Secretary for Foreign Affairs attends the last annual meeting of the Spain-US Council

The Diplomat The State Secretary for Foreign and Global Affairs, Diego Martínez Belío, attended this week the last meeting in 2024 of the Board of Trustees of the Spain-US Council Foundation, which approved the 2025 action plan, whose main milestones will be the inauguration of the ‘Invisible Immigrants’ exhibition in Tampa, Florida, and the holding of the 28th Spain-US Forum in Santander. Last Wednesday, the Board of Trustees held its fourth and final regular meeting of the year, during which Martínez Belío highlighted the importance of the work carried out by the Spain-US Council Foundation in the relations between the two countries, and especially in the current international context. As the main point on the agenda, the Board of Trustees of the Foundation approved the action plan planned for 2025 and the president of the Spain-US Council Foundation, Josu Jon Imaz, highlighted the programs and activities planned for “a year that will undoubtedly be exciting, and in which we hope to continue contributing to the best of our ability to improve the relationship between Spain and the United States in all areas.” Among the main milestones in next year's calendar is the start of the touring exhibition in the United States 'Invisible Immigrants. Spaniards in the USA (1868 – 1945)', which under the title 'Invisible Immigrants. Spaniards in the US (1868 – 1945)’, can be visited from March 1 to August 3 at the Tampa Bay History Center in Tampa, Florida. On the other hand, the Foundation has already started the organization of the 28th Spain-United States Forum, which will be held in Santander on July 4 and 5, coinciding with the anniversary of the independence of the United States. Imaz himself informed King Felipe VI of the holding of this forum during the audience held on November 7 at the Zarzuela Palace. Regarding the 2024 activities report, the Board of Trustees highlighted the 27th Spain-United States Forum, held in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on May 31 and June 1, and the launch of the ‘US-Spain Forever Young Leaders Network’. On the other hand, the meeting served to make effective the incorporations of the two new members announced at the previous meeting: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and IndesIA. Likewise, Josu Jon Imaz was reappointed as president for a second and final two-year term, in accordance with the statutes.
