The Real Jardín Botánico, of the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, (RJB-CSIC) and Redeia, Matriz de Red Eléctrica, inaugurated last Wednesday the exhibition Connected to the future: the energy transition, a travelling exhibition in which Redeia offers the visitor an interactive experience with which to boost their knowledge about the energy transition and the active role that consumers play in it, true protagonists of the energy model of the future.
The exhibition, which opened its doors on 4 December and will remain until 2 March in the Villanueva Pavilion of the Real Jardín Botánico, arrives in Madrid from the Science Museum of Valladolid. Previously, the exhibition was exhibited at the Science Park of Granada, the Elder Museum of Science in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and the Science and Cosmos Museum in Tenerife, where it received almost 200,000 visits.
During the opening, the director of the Real Jardín Botánico-CSIC, María-Paz Martín, stressed that the exhibition organized in collaboration with Redeia is very appropriate to be shown and visited at the Real Jardín Botánico because it connects with its principles and objectives. “The Real Jardín Botánico, said the director, is committed to the conservation and protection of all our biodiversity, we have been working for years to combat climate change or actively participate in each edition of the international event ‘La hora del planeta’. Also, We are committed to education, communication and scientific dissemination, and this exhibition will fulfil that objective because it is aimed at all audiences, it is instructive and interactive”.
For her part, the corporate director of Institutional Relations, Communication and Territory of Redeia, Miryam Aguilar, explained that the exhibition aims to make the visitor “aware of the active role he has to play as a citizen and as an actor of the new electrical system”.
For her part, the CSIC’s Deputy Vice President of Scientific Culture and Citizen Science, Pura Fernández, said that “the forecasts on the conservation of our natural environment are not promising. Science has confirmed that if we do not act urgently, our planet is heading for a climate disaster so it is unquestionable that, among other measures, we must change our energy model”.
The exhibition immersively introduces the world of energy and telecommunications, through five modules. The exhibition space covers several phases with an analog and digital approach in which the visitor becomes the protagonist of different tests in the form of games, experiments and even an escape room. In this way, the participants will learn key keys of the two major transformations in which the country is immersed: the ecological transition and the deployment of digitalization.
The exhibition is designed for the general public, families and students with a triple objective: to raise awareness among visitors about the effects of the climate emergency; explain the challenges of the energy transition and the sustainability commitments of the 2030 Agenda, and to convey to visitors the active role that consumers will play in the future.
