Qatar’s ambassador praises Spain’s “ethical stance” on Palestine

The Diplomat The Qatari ambassador to Spain, Salem Al-Shafi, reiterated yesterday, during the reception he hosted to celebrate the National Day of this Arab state and which was marked by the recent overturn of power in Syria, that his government “spares no effort to resolve international conflicts through mediation”. The Qatari ambassador stressed, in this regard, that “negotiation and dialogue are the only ways to achieve sustainable and comprehensive solutions to conflicts and achieve lasting peace” at a time when many countries face instability and armed conflicts “whose catastrophic consequences hinder efforts aimed at development and progress, which can only be achieved through peace”. In this “complex scenario”, the ambassador did not want to miss “this opportunity to praise the ethical, courageous and humanitarian stance adopted by the Kingdom of Spain with regard to Gaza and Palestine”. Regarding bilateral relations, Salem Al-Shafi expressed his “joy for the solid friendship that unites the two countries and that has been strengthened with the launching of the first annual strategic dialogue between the State of Qatar and Spain, held in Madrid on June 21, 2024”. He then underlined his “firm commitment to continue working to strengthen bilateral relations between Qatar and Spain”, as well as his wish for “further rapprochement, development and prosperity for both countries”.
