The Instituto Francés recommends the concert that Emmanuelle Haïm (pictured)and Le concert d’Astrée perform at the Auditorio Nacional de Música tomorrow Thursday at 7.30 pm with Ibermúsica, an exciting baroque program.
The French director was the first woman in history to conduct at the Chicago Opera House with Haendel’s own Giulio Cesare, one of Häim’s specialist composers. The director founded Le Concert d’Astrée in 2000 and quickly gained international fame.
The two great masters of baroque, Bach and Handel, who were the protagonists of this concert’s programme, were born in 1685 and, although they pursued very different careers, both decisively changed the course of music history.
This evening will hear some of his most famous orchestral compositions. Haendel composed both his Water Music and the Music for the Royal Fireworks for two Royal London celebrations. The first takes the royal barges over the Thames. It is known that the music was so applauded by the king that he made it repeat up to 3 times. The second, moves to the fireworks of the Green Park in April 1749. Bach’s third of his four orchestral suites is one of the most celebrated works by the baroque master, including the famous «Air», which has been so versioned and performed all over the world.
