<h6><strong>Eduardo González</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The Council of Ministers will appoint Javier Parrondo this Tuesday to the position of Spanish ambassador to Paraguay, according to diplomatic sources reported to <em>The Diplomat.</em></strong></h4> Javier Parrondo was until now the general director of Casa Asia, to which the diplomat José Pintor Aguilar was appointed last Wednesday. He will replace Carmen Castiella Ruiz de Velasco, the new diplomatic advisor to King Felipe VI, at the Embassy of Paraguay. Born in Madrid on 12 November 1977, Parrondo graduated in Law from the Carlos III University of Madrid and joined the Diplomatic Service in 2004. He has been posted to the Permanent Representation of Spain to the United Nations in Geneva and to the Embassies in Hanoi (Vietnam) and Kabul (Afghanistan) and has been deputy consul at the Consulate General of Spain in Jerusalem. In addition, he has worked in the Office of the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and for Ibero-America and in the Subdirectorate General for the Middle East. He has also been responsible for the Department of Cooperation with the Arab World and Asia at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID). Since August 2018 he was posted to the Spanish Embassy in Bangkok (Thailand), before his appointment as Director General of Casa Asia in 2019.
