To commemorate the 12th of December, Day of the Virgin of Guadalupe, the Fundación Casa de México celebrates that day at 7.30 pm in its Hall of Multiple Uses the matins by the hand of the mariachi Charros de Jalisco.
In the program, the mariachi will perform traditional pieces of the Marian repertoire as Las Mañanitas, La Guadalupana, Adiós, reina del cielo, A ti, virgencita or Amor eterno.
To enhance the image of the Virgin, it will adorn the foot of the same with floral arrangements where red roses will predominate as a symbol of the Miracle of Roses, the legendary passage of the sixteenth century in which the Virgin manifests its existence before Juan Diego, in Cerro del Tepeyac (north of present-day Mexico City).
According to various traditional accounts, transmitted orally and in documents such as the Nican mopohua (17th century), the Virgin of Guadalupe had up to four apparitions in 1531 on the hill of Tepeyac, north of Mexico City.
In these apparitions, the Virgin commissioned Juan Diego Cuauhtlatoatzin, a Chichimeca indigenous man, to come before the first bishop of Mexico, Juan de Zumárraga, and ask him to erect a temple in his honor. As a proof, the Virgin asked Juan Diego to bring flowers in his tilma (garment that was used as a cape), which when unfurled in front of the bishop discovered the Marian image. The last of these appearances would have been on 12 December. Over time, the celebration of the Virgin of Guadalupe in Tepeyac has been consolidated as one of the most important festivities in Mexico and as one of the manifestations of cultural mestizaje in the country, where Mesoamerican and Catholic roots are discovered at the same time.
The mariachi Charros de Jalisco was formed in Spain in the 1990s. This name was chosen by the Spanish public, as they were called in the provinces where they presented, celebrating events and birthdays to the sound of the morning and the purest style of the mariachi. Professionalism, voice, unique style and charisma have allowed him to cultivate a successful and long career, always bringing the music of Mexico to different continents.
