Film Cycle ‘1989. Views. 35 Years of the Fall of Communism’

From tomorrow Tuesday to 8 December at Cineteca Madrid (sala Azcona) will take place the cinema cycle 1989. Points of view. 35 Years of the Fall of Communism, a film exhibition representing the years that marked the change of cycle in Central and Eastern Europe.

 

Germany, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Lithuania, Poland and Romania, under the auspices of EUNIC MADRID (Network of European Cultural Institutes), have joined forces to commemorate a historic date for contemporary Europe and the world: 1989.

 

The year 1989 was a turning point for the whole world. This was the beginning of the process of dismantling the two ideologically opposed blocs, separated by the Iron Curtain. This cycle shows the democratic changes that were taking place at the time, through the different experiences of the European countries mentioned above.

 

The sessions will begin at 20 hours and the cycle will be presented cycle with the presentation of Julián Ocaña, director Alianza Francesa de Madrid and president of the cluster EUNIC Madrid, and Luis Pares, director of programming of Cineteca Madrid, projecting the film Ciudadano Havel (Pavel Koutecký, Miroslav Janek, 2007). Czech Republic. The film will be presented by Jana Polivkova, director of the Centro Checo.

 

Wednesday, 4 December will be screened Wałęsa. The Man of Hope (Andrzej Wajda, 2013). Poland. Maria Ślebioda, director of the Instituto Polaco de Cultura, will present the film.

 

Katalin Tóth, Ambassador of Hungary, will present the film Blockade (Ádám Tõsér, 2022) on Thursday 5 December. Hungary. On Friday, 6 December at 18.30, Rasa Survilaite, coordinator of cultural projects of the Lithuanian Embassy, will present The jump (Giedre Zickyte, 2020). Lithuania. On Saturday 7 December at 18.30, Maria Pop, director of the Instituto Cultural Rumano, will present the film 12:08 east of Bucharest (Corneliu Porumboiu, 2006). Romania. And finally, on Sunday 8 December at 8pm, Lieber Thomas (Andreas Kleinert, 2021) will be screened. Germany, which will be presented by Ana Pérez, responsible for cultural programming | Coordination Cinema & Music of the Instituto Goethe. Tickets can be purchased on the website of the Cineteca de Madrid.
