The Ambassador of Ghana in Spain, Muhammad Adam, urged his African counterparts residing in Madrid to “remain united” because “together we are stronger” during his farewell to Spain, after almost four years at the head of the Ghanaian Mission.

Adam recalled the collaboration maintained by the African Ambassadors Group and highlighted the great success of this year’s Africa Day celebration, with the participation of all countries.

In an event organized at the Royal Casino of Madrid, in collaboration with the Academy of Diplomacy, Adam reviewed, before fifty guests -among which were numerous ambassadors-, the work he has developed since he presented his Letters of Credence to King Felipe VI on January 29, 2021.

A work that began only a few months before the President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, made his first official visit to Spain. Muhammad Adam recalled the joke of another African ambassador who told him, after the success of the visit, that “thanks to this I had already earned my 4-year term” at the head of the Embassy. “And so it has been,” he concluded.

In addition to the presidential visit, during which business and governmental meetings were also held, the ambassador listed other advances in bilateral Spanish-Ghanaian relations, such as the increase in bilateral political contacts and the signing of a memorandum of understanding. Adam expressed his hope that the Spanish Government’s Africa Plan will be completed, in the case of Ghana, with a deeper bilateral relationship.
