Next Monday, December 2 at 18:00, the Embassy of Honduras and the Ateneo de Madrid invite to the donation to the Central Bank of Honduras of the family archive and the work of the outstanding Honduran artist Pablo Zelaya Sierra, called “Father of contemporary Honduran plastic”.
The event will take place in the Sala de la Cátedra Mayor of the Ateneo and in the same will be held the presentation of the book Pablo Zelaya Sierra. The legacy of a universal artist (Honduras, Costa Rica and Spain), edited by Luis Alonso del Moral.
His great sensitivity and the solidity of his work, which many found stylistically similar to that of other great Latin American art such as that of the Mexican Diego Rivera and the Brazilian Candido Portinari, made this young man an immortal artist. For some reason, his paintings did not go unnoticed in Madrid, where he exhibited them at the Ateneo de la ciudad. Those who saw them said that, in the Old World, their work denoted an individual and introspective attitude. One of his last and most famous paintings is Brothers against Brothers, which denounces what man does to his fellow men in civil war. It is a moving, terrible and violent picture.
