In a statement highlighting all the tourism offered by Ecuador, the Embassy of this country reviews all the attractions and cultural routes that allow you to explore the heritage, traditions and landscapes of this country, located in the northeastern part of South America.

Ecuador is the fourth smallest country on the continent with a population of about 17 million inhabitants, covering an area of 256,370 km 2. It is divided into 4 regions with completely different climatologies and ecosystems: Pacific coast, Andes, Amazon and Galapagos Islands, which is why it is considered one of the most megadiverse countries in the world.

Due to the proximity and high connectivity between its various regions, it is considered as the Country of the Four Worlds, since it offers four types of different exotic destinations in the same place; allowing more adventurous travelers the possibility of changing landscapes, activities and gastronomy in a short time and without much effort.

The Embassy’s statement highlights the Routes of the Heritage Cities: Quito and Cuenca, “Declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 1978 and 1996 respectively, they contain an important legacy of colonial architecture, considered the best preserved in Latin America. Notable for cathedrals and Baroque art museum with indigenous expressions. Its cobbled streets, craft markets, churches, convents and Creole cuisine take visitors on a historical journey through the vestiges of the Spanish society that once inhabited them”.

“The Avenue of Volcanoes and the Andean Indigenous Communities: in the heart of the world, where the earth thills with force, rises the imposing “Avenue of Volcanoes”, a natural jewel that extends, The Embassy was named after the German scientist and geographer, Alexander Von Humbolt, who, upon his arrival in the Equator in the 19th century, noted the almost perfect alignment and symmetry of the country’s volcanoes.’  “In this route, travelers will be able to reach the highest point on Earth and close to the sun located at Chimborazo (6,268 meters above sea level); conquer Cotopaxi (5,897 meters), considered the highest active volcano in the world; crown the summit of Cayambe (5,790 m), one of the few snowy places on the planet located at latitude 0; dazzling the eye in the turquoise lagoon of the volcano Quilotoa, or contemplate from the Rucu Pichincha (4,696 m) the contrasts of the metropolis of Quito, among others”.

As for the Ecuadorian beaches, the Embassy’s statement states that: “along the Pacific coast there are various warm waters, blue or turquoise with gray, golden, white or pink sand, located next to towns, villages and communities of fishermen and craftsmen. Los Frailes, Puerto López, Puerto Cayo, San Vicente, Manta, Montañita, Salinas, Atacames, Muisne among others are some of the 110 warm water beaches that throughout the year offer exciting scenarios for surfing, diving and other adventure sports”.

Another of the details that underlines the diplomatic statement is addressed to lovers of history and ancient cultures the Pacific Coast especially addressed “the Spondylus Route, which is named after the deep coral-red mollusk associated with cultural identity and symbolism of ancient pre-Columbian civilizations such as the Valdivida culture. In the coastal Pacific Coast region, the legacy of fine aroma cocoa, an agricultural heritage, is being explored. In cities like Guayaquil and Manabí, visitors can learn about world-class chocolate plantations and taste it while discovering the historical importance of this product in Ecuadorian culture (4,500-2,000 B.C.)”.

Finally, the Embassy’s statement highlights the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest, where “Travelers will enjoy natural spas, waterfalls, viewpoints, wild rivers that flow into the Amazon, valleys of tropical rainforest, observation of exotic flora and fauna, ancient gastronomy and rituals of ancestral peoples such as the Shuar, Waorani, Cofán, Kichwa, among others. This tourist route is a good way to break the routine and disconnect from the world in search of connection with the Amazon nature in its pure state, considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World”.

All the tourist and cultural attractions of Ecuador can be consulted on this tourist website.
