The Ministry of the Interior manages with the Generalitat the aid of Portugal, France and Morocco for the DANA

Julio García The Ministry of the Interior and the Valencian Generalitat manage the incorporation of the aid offered by Morocco, Portugal and France, in the form of experts and specific machinery, for the recovery work of the Valencian regions flooded by the DANA. In a press release, the Ministry of the Interior reports that it is already preparing the incorporation of 24 trucks and seventy Moroccan workers into the recovery tasks in the area, who will support the removal and transport of sludge and waste, once the Valencian authorities have accepted this help. As for Portugal and France, the Ministry of the Interior explains that, at the request of the Valencian Generalitat, it activated the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism (UCPM) on November 8. Both countries provided different machinery and technical operators to intervene in these same tasks. Thus, the General Directorate of Civil Protection and Emergencies of the Ministry of the Interior manages the participation of twenty pumping machines of different types and capacities, seven excavators and backhoes and two cargo trucks provided by the National Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Portugal. France, for its part, is providing various machinery for loading and unloading sludge and waste and four super-heavy transport vehicles to transport large quantities of cargo to the points where the material extracted from the towns flooded by the DANA will be destroyed. The Directorate General of Civil Protection of the Ministry of the Interior is currently analysing the technical viability of other offers of collaboration made by different European countries through the Civil Protection Mechanism of the European Union in order to, if necessary, transfer them to the Valencian Generalitat and, if they are accepted, manage their incorporation into the recovery and reconstruction work of the regions flooded by the DANA. The Minister of the Interior, Fernando Grande-Marlaska, referred this week in the Congress of Deputies to the arrival of these support personnel within the framework of the solidarity provided by these three neighbouring countries of Spain.
