The Diplomat
The ambassadors of Slovakia, Juraj Tomaga, and Slovenia, Robert Krmelj, received on Wednesday their appointments as Honorary Members of the Carlos III Foundation for their efforts to foster Spain’s relations with both countries.
In a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Slovak Embassy in Madrid, the president of the Foundation, Carlos Escudero de Burón y González, presented their respective diplomas to both heads of Mission. In the case of the Slovak ambassador, the Carlos III Foundation also recognizes with this distinction “his support to the collaboration between Slovakia and Latin American countries”.
Founded 25 years ago, the Fundación Carlos III is a respected institution that gathers honorary members, including 40 presidents and former presidents of American republics; Nobel Prize winners, such as chemist Mario Molina, Nobel Peace Prize winner Oscar Arias Sanchez – former president of Costa Rica – as well as distinguished Nobel Prize winners in literature such as Camilo José Cela or Mario Vargas Llosa. Its honorary members also include several ambassadors.
