The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MAECI) promotes, as every year, the Week of Italian Cuisine in the World (SCIM), whose 9th edition will be held from 18 to 24 November.
This week will be a journey through the roots and culinary traditions of the country across the Alps, designed to celebrate the authentic flavors that speak of Italian values and knowledge. This year’s edition is dedicated to the theme Mediterranean diet and root cuisine: health and tradition, with the aim of promoting Italian food culture and the Mediterranean diet as a motor for growth and development.
The programme in Spain includes more than 30 activities promoted by the Consulate General in Barcelona, the Viceconsulado in Arona, the Italian Cultural Institutes of Madrid and Barcelona, the bi national Chambers of Commerce in Madrid and Barcelona, and the Com.It.ES of Madrid.
The Italian Embassy in Madrid is organizing a series of initiatives that will start today with an event dedicated to space cuisine, part of the Science Week held annually in the Spanish capital. Combining science and gastronomy, the initiative will explore how cuisine can evolve even in extreme environments like space, elevating Italian creativity to unimaginable heights.
From next Saturday, November 16 to December 1, visitors to the permanent collection of the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando of Madrid will have access to a thematic tour entitled The art of eating. The food in art, where you will be able to admire a selection of works by Italian, Spanish and international painters who have represented in their paintings typical foods of the Mediterranean diet.
Next Monday will be the turn of The Italian Show, an important occasion for Italian producers and restaurateurs who celebrate the authentic flavors of Italy, in a context that aims to make more widely known the Italian gastronomic culture.
Finally, on 20 November at the IES Hotel School, also thanks to the collaboration of the ICE Office in Madrid, two masterclasses will be held, in which Chef Antonio Scalera and Master Pastry Chef Fabrizio Galla will share their talent with the students of the institute.
