The Diplomat
The Japanese Ambassador to Spain, Takahiro Nakamae, offered a reception at his residence last Tuesday to mark the closing of the Program Japan, Guest Country at the 40th edition of Veranos de la Villa 2024.
Nakamae began the event by remembering all the victims and families of those who died due to DANA, and expressed on behalf of the Japanese people and his own his deep regret and wish for a speedy recovery.
Representatives from the Culture, Tourism and Sports Department of Madrid City Council, Madrid Destino and Veranos de la Villa, Fundación Japón and Casa Asia attended the reception, as well as from the sponsoring companies, artists, speakers, exhibition curators and workshop leaders who made it possible to carry out more than twenty very diverse activities that made up the Japan, Guest Country program. Ambassador Nakamae dedicated words of recognition and gratitude to all of them.
This is the first time that Japan has been the protagonist of the programme of the most important cultural festival held in Madrid in the summer and organised by the Madrid City Council, and on this occasion, also by the Japan Foundation together with the collaboration of the Embassy.
