The Minister of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs of the Dominican Republic, Ito Bisonó, stated yesterday that, in 2023, Spain was the country that invested the most capital in his country, with an 80% increase in foreign direct investment compared to 2022.
Bisonó made this statement during the opening of the Dominican Week in Spain, which includes an ambitious program of activities in Madrid with the intention of strengthening business and cultural ties between the two nations.
Yesterday, two panels were held on “Spanish business culture and its impact on the industrial development of the Dominican Republic” and on “Ibero-American successes: investments that transform the Dominican Republic,” with the participation of prominent businessmen.
Later, at a lunch organized by the Business Council Alliance for Ibero-America (CEAPI), Ito Bisonó pointed out that the strategic location and port infrastructure of the Dominican Republic has given them the competitive advantage to position themselves as a business logistics center.
The minister added that “the Spanish business culture has influenced the industrial development of the Dominican Republic since its beginnings, and provided the information that “in 2023, Spain was the country that invested the most capital in the Dominican Republic, increasing foreign direct investment by 80% compared to 2022.”
