The Minister of Defence, Margarita Robles, and the Minister of Defence, Minister of Mobility and Public Works and Minister of Gender Equality and Diversity of Luxembourg, Yuriko Backes, agreed on Wednesday on the need to maintain support for Ukraine in all areas.
The Luxembourg defence minister has made a two-day visit to Spain, during which she was received by her Spanish colleague, with whom she exchanged views on the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the situation in Africa and the Middle East.
The two ministers, according to the department headed by Margarita Robles, also spoke about the Defence Policy of the European Union, specifically the European Peace Fund and the Assistance Fund for Ukraine. In this regard, they agreed on the need to continue supporting Ukraine in all areas and also the urgency of reaching a diplomatic solution to end the conflict in the Middle East and stop the possibility of an escalation.
Robles and Backes highlighted the importance of cooperation in the field of Security and Defence, including multilateral forums. The Luxembourg minister stressed that both countries share commitments and objectives and thanked the meeting and Spain’s commitment to Security and Defence in the international arena.
Luxembourg is a founding member of the United Nations, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, the European Union and the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe.
