In the context of the exhibition The Berlin Wall. A World Divided next Wednesday, November 6 at 7 pm, the Fundación Canal (Mateo Inurria street, 2) commemorates the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Wall with a concert by Essener Gitarrenduo. Free event. Limited seats.

Known for a repertoire ranging from the Renaissance to flamenco through the baroque, this time the German duo will tour the divided Berlin of the Cold War through their albums “13. August 1961: Der Mauerbau” (13 August 1961: The construction of the Wall) and “9. November 1989: Der Mauerfall” (9 November 1989: The Fall of the Wall), starring a series of songs with Spanish guitar that relate the most important events in the construction and fall of this symbol of the Cold War.

Many are the materials that were used to demolish the wall and in the exhibition The Berlin Wall. A Divided World some of them are collected, like that hammer and chisel that represent its fall and the long-awaited end to the Cold War. In addition to these elements, there are another 300 original objects on display, including 20 meters of the original wall 2.3 meters high and 2.6 tons, and materials that depict its evolution over the decades, as the barbed wire placed in the first stage of the division.

The exhibition also includes an important graphic and audio archive on how this historic landmark was lived around the world. The different sections of the exhibition explore not only Berlin life, but also the global context of the Cold War and how popular discontent and revolutions eventually brought down socialist dictatorships; and with them, the Wall itself.
