‘Forgotten wars and conflicts in the world’ seminar at INCIPE

Tomorrow, Tuesday from 9.30 to 13.30 hours, the Institute of International Affairs and Foreign Policy (INCIPE) organizes, in collaboration with the Ministry of Defense, the Seminar Wars and forgotten conflicts in the world.

 

The activity will take place in a hybrid format. The seminar will be held in the INCIPE conference room, located at Adequa (Avenida de Burgos, 89, building 6, ground floor). If you are interested in attending, please confirm your attendance by email at aranzazu.alvarez@fundacionincipe.com.

 

Will welcome and open the seminar Ricardo Díez-Hochleitner, Ambassador of Spain and INCIPE Secretary General, together with Lieutenant General Fernando López del Pozo, Director General for Defense Policy (DIGENPOL), Ministry of Defense.

 

The first round-table discussion on Forgotten conflicts in Africa will be held at 10 a.m., moderated by Vicente Garrido, INCIPE’s general director, and attended by José Antonio Bordallo, Spanish ambassador to Zaire (1996-1997), Democratic Republic of the Congo (1997-2000) and Libya (2014-2017); Manuel Salazar Palma, Spanish Ambassador to Ethiopia and to the African Union (2020-2023); Colonel Carlos Latorre, Geopolitical Analysis Analyst, DICOES-SEGENPOL, Ministry of Defense. Military observer for the United Nations Missions in Ethiopia/Eritrea (UNMEE) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUC), and María Fuentenebro, senior United Nations expert on humanitarian affairs, peace and security.

 

After a break, the second round-table discussion, entitled Forgotten conflicts in Asia: the case of Myanmar, will be held, moderated by Colonel José Luis Calvo, Director of the Division for Security and Defence Coordination and Studies, General Secretariat for Defence Policy, Ministry of Defence; Emilio de Miguel, director of the Centro Casa de Asia in Madrid. Ambassador of Spain in Thailand, with a presence in Cambodia, Laos and the Union of Myanmar (2017-2021); Eduardo Matres, analyst in the area of geopolitical analysis, DICOES-SEGENPOL, Ministry of Defense, and Antonio Ponce, freelance reporter of armed conflicts and humanitarian crises.
