Author: Juan Fernández Miranda (in the photo).

Objective: Democracy, winner of the Espasa 2024 Prize, is the story of the nineteen months that changed the history of Spain, those that pass between 20 November 1975 and 15 June 1977. After the death of Franco, the virtuous triangle formed by Juan Carlos I, Torcuato Fernández-Miranda and Adolfo Suárez, supported by the drive of a Spanish society which had already overcome the hardships of the post-war period, made it possible for the foundations of politics to be turned 180 degrees and for the Franco regime to successfully, though not without difficulty, move towards a democratic system that still endures and has been an example of evolution for everyone.
