Conversation Casa Asia of Madrid about the book ‘What is Hinduism?’
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

On Tuesday, October 22 from 19 hours, Centro Casa Asia-Madrid (calle Mayor, 69), with the collaboration of the publishing house Senderos and the Indian Federation of Spain, presents an event around the book What is Hinduism?, in which its author, Javier Ruiz Calderón, will talk with the essayist and philosopher Juan Arnau.

Hinduism is a religion that, in its three thousand years of history, has known an enormous variety of beliefs, myths, spiritualities, theologies, scriptures, practices, among others. That makes those interested in some of its aspects, such as yoga, tantra, meditation or philosophy, easily get lost in this true maze, in which we also find, for example, the castes, the «sacred cows», cremations along the Ganges and multitude of gods and goddesses of surprising appearance.

The book presents an overview of this religion in a clear and orderly manner, trying to show its unity and diversity so that the reader can orient himself on it, put everything in its place and thus understand its context and meaning.

Javier Ruiz Calderón is a professor at the Universidad Pontificia Comillas and author of eight books on these topics. Study and practice yoga and vedanta for more than forty years, currently under the guidance of teacher Mata Amritanandamayí (Amma).
