The Diplomat

Six new ambassadors from as many countries accredited in Spain will be able to present their Letters of Credence to the King, in a ceremony to be held on November 11 at the Royal Palace.
They are the ambassadors of Belgium, Didier Charles J. Nagant de Deuxchaisnes; Sweden, Per Arne Hjelmborn; Cyprus, Michalis Ioannou; Latvia, Janis Zlamets; South Korea, Soosuk Lim; and Andorra, Eva Descarrega García. They all arrived in Madrid several weeks ago and presented the Copies of theirs Credentials at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but were unable to attend the reception offered by the King and Queen at the Royal Palace on the occasion of the National Day on the 12th, as they were unable to present their Letters of Credence to the head of state beforehand. At least three other ambassadors – those of the United Kingdom, Canada and Panama – were also unable to attend the reception for the same reason and will have to wait for another ceremony to be scheduled, once there is a group of six ambassadors. As is traditional, at the Letters of Credence presentation ceremony, the new diplomatic representatives will first go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, from where they will be driven, one by one, in period carriages, in a colourful parade that will end at the Royal Palace. There they will be received by Don Felipe, with whom, after presenting their credentials, they will talk for a few minutes.
