On Saturday, October 19, the Embassy of the Dominican Republic will pay a posthumous tribute to the life of Bernarda Jiménez Clemente, prominent Dominican doctor and defender of the rights of immigrants in Spain, at the headquarters of the Unión General de Trabajadores (UGT) from Madrid (Avenida de América, 25) at 6 p.m.

For more than three decades he chaired the Dominican Mothers’ Volunteer in Spain, which assisted and helped to regularize their status in Spain to over 52,000 Dominican immigrants living in poverty. In addition, among other important contributions, for two years she has chaired the Dominican Foundation to Prevent Youth Violence, of which she was co-founder.

The event is expected to be attended by prominent political figures in Spain, as well as the participation of the Dominican diaspora living in this community.

Jiménez Clemente’s death occurred on September 3, 15 days after she suffered a stroke (CVA) while spending a vacation in Santo Domingo with her husband, Pedro Álvarez Pastor.
