The British Foreign Office has announced that it will lodge a formal complaint with the Spanish government after a Spanish Air Force aircraft carried out an “air raid” over Gibraltar last Friday..
A Foreign Office spokesman said they were aware of the incursion that took place on September 27 and said the department “will make a formal diplomatic representation to the Spanish authorities,” without specifying when this will take place.
The Gibraltar television channel GBC, informed that on Friday afternoon several witnesses saw a plane over the Rock. According to flight tracking applications, it would be a BARB 061 of the Spanish Air Force, which flew over the Rock when a British Airways flight was on the airport runway.
According to this media, on Monday afternoon this same plane would have flown over Gibraltar again, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
The alleged incursions coincide with the celebration these days, in the waters of the Strait of Gibraltar, of the Mar 24-2 maneuvers, directed by the Spanish Navy, in which units from various allied countries participate, including the United Kingdom.
