Last Friday, the Embassy of Azerbaijan held a Remembrance Day Commemoration Event at its headquarters, which was attended by members of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Spain, Azerbaijani students studying at universities in Madrid and representatives of the media.
The ceremony began with a minute of silence in tribute “to the memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the restoration of territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan”, says the statement issued by the Embassy. Then a documentary was screened dedicated to “the martyrs of the Homeland War”.
In his speech, the Ambassador of Azerbaijan, Ramiz Hasamov, stressed the importance of the day 27 September in what he called “the heroic history of the nation”. The ambassador noted that “according to the presidential decree, the celebration of 27 September as a Day of Remembrance demonstrates its special value for Azerbaijan”.
The Ambassador informed the audience that, “on September 27, 2020, to avoid the resulting military provocation by the United States Republic of Armenia, the Army of the Azerbaijani Republic took the counteroffensive measures and, in 2023, Azerbaijan fully restored its sovereignty and territorial integrity through the implementation of anti-terrorist”.
The Azerbaijani ambassador shared his view on the results, “so Azerbaijani citizens, the Homeland War: liberation of the occupied territories, the return of Azerbaijani citizens to their ancestral lands (events that created a historic opportunity for major economic and political processes) and regional cooperation multilateral”.
Ramiz Hasanov, addressing the young people, stressed “the honourable The duty of every citizen of Azerbaijan to erase the traces of 30 years of Armenian aggression and to heal the wounds of occupation together”. Also mentioned the fact that, “despite the extensive contamination of landmines left by Armenia during the occupation of Azerbaijani territories, the Government of Azerbaijan is persistently participating in reconstruction and rehabilitation efforts in the liberated areas”.
At the end of the Act, offerings were offered “in memory of the martyrs who gave their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan”, concludes the statement from the Embassy.
