With text and direction by Juan Mairena and actress Mélida Molina playing Bette Davis, the Teatro Fernán Gómez-Centro Cultural de la Villa (Plaza de Colón, 4) presents the play Loba, a tribute to the Seventh Art and the divas of the big screen, where emotion, love for classic cinema, humor and passion overflow, with a Bette Davis in its purest form.
Loba, which will be on the screen until October 26, when a woman breaks into the Hollywood Reporter to place an ad: Mother of three children. Divorced. Thirty years of experience as a movie actress. Still mobile and more friendly than rumour. She is looking for a stable job in Hollywood. Whoever receives her does not give credit to her eyes until she confirms it herself: Yes, it’s me, Bette Davis.
This play is a tribute to all the actresses who, after a lifetime of struggling, have reached a certain age and are relegated to secondary roles and often forgotten. And she knew it better than anyone: “I made mistakes, but they didn’t make it easy for me either. I loved men, even though they never really loved me. Not really. My father was the first to break my heart. Then came many more. From some, I received gifts. From others… beatings. Some tried to blackmail me, kick me out of Hollywood, ruin me. But I never threw in the towel. No. I went ahead, won the game… and I won the public’s respect. In the end… I was smarter than all of them. For some reason they call me… LOBA”. Bette Davis.
