The International University of La Rioja (UNIR) and the Embassy of Ecuador last Thursday extended the collaboration agreement by which Ecuadorians living in Spain can attend online training and employment programs provided by the educational institution.
The renewed agreement includes up to 180 new scholarships to boost talent and higher education in professionals and young people from the Ecuadorian community, distributed in four programs: Supercuidadores (60); Viveros de Empleo (50); Viveros de Emprendimiento (50); and Excellence UNIR-Embassy of Ecuador (20).
Wilma Andrade Muñoz, ambassador of Ecuador, and José María Vázquez García-Peñuela, rector of UNIR, signed the new agreement. The Ecuadorian ambassador stressed that UNIR’s scholarships “open up new opportunities for growth, allowing our young people and Ecuadorian professionals to transform their future through online education and continuing training”. The rector of UNIR, for his part, highlighted the value of scholarships and training programs, “which can help their beneficiaries to face new challenges and goals that bring progress and change within their environments”.
The agreement between UNIR and the Embassy of Ecuador has already paid off by offering 300 free places in the NOOCs courses, dedicated to improving employability, in October 2023; with the participation of Ecuadorian residents at the Virtual Job Fair that UNIR organizes periodically to connect professionals actively seeking employment, in May 2024; and with 60 Supercuidadores 2022 scholarships that benefited 45 Ecuadorians living in Spain.
