On the occasion of the European Day of Languages (EVD), the Estonian Embassy organized last Wednesday a concert by the pop-folk band Puuluup in the prestigious Clamores hall in Madrid.
Puuluup is an Estonian acid folk duo founded in 2014 by Ramo Teder (Pastacas as soloist) and Marko Veisson. Your instruments are hiiu kannel/talharpa and loops.
In November 2023, they were announced together with 5miinust as one of the semi-finalists of the Eesti Laul 2024, the Estonian pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest 2024, with the song (Nendest) narkootikumidest ei tea me (küll) midagi. Qualified for the final during the first round of the semifinal. Finally, they won the final and managed to represent Estonia in the competition.
With a very acid humor (they confess that the themes of their songs are only about agriculture and sports, especially cross-country skiing! , Puuluup vibrates with its rhythm, with the extraordinary handling of the instrument called looper (with which to record several tracks and then play in loop) and of the typical songs of Estonian folklore, that more than one was made to get up from his seat and dance to the rhythm of his musical beats.
