On 21 September, the Colegio Santamarca Internacional hosted the gastronomic and cultural event Sabor a Hungría. In the second half of 2024, Hungary holds the rotating presidency of the Council of the European Union, which the Hungarian Embassy in Madrid enriches with a programme full of activities in the Spanish capital.
The programme focused on traditional products of Hungary (such as goulash soup, kürtőskalács, langos and Tokaj wine), while participants also had the opportunity to learn about Hungarian folk music and dance.
The event also included Hungarian sports and fashion. In the presence of Károly Henczi, president of the Spanish Teqball Association, and organized by the Embassy, a table was given to the school (teqball is a sport that combines elements of football and table tennis).
In her opening speech, the Hungarian ambassador, Katalin Tóth, underlined that the embassy intended to “ensure a diversified presence, not only in Madrid but also throughout Spain, during the Hungarian Presidency of the Council”. As the main sponsor of the event, Deputy Szimeon Varga emphasized that this event, despite the geographical distance, will contribute to the rapprochement between Hungary and Spain.
