Czech ambassador stresses security and defence collaboration with Spain

The Diplomat With references to the Church of St. John of Nepomuk and the Prague Bridge, both in Madrid, the Czech Ambassador to Spain, Libor Sečka, underlined in his speech the ties that unite Spain and the Czech Republic during the celebration of their National Day, which commemorates another Czech patron saint: St. Wenceslas. Sečka highlighted the role of his embassy in creating ‘new bridges’ in ‘different areas of society and the economy’, among which he stressed ‘the very strong bridge that is being created in the area of security’ in view of ‘an unprecedented Russian aggression against Ukraine’. In view of these ‘new challenges’, he expressed his satisfaction that ‘Czech and Spanish military and security personnel are collaborating in the multinational framework, in the European Union and in NATO’, the clearest example of which, he said, ‘is the collaboration and coordination in the NATO brigade in Slovakia’. The ambassador also welcomed the growing economic and trade relations between the two countries. ‘Spain is our ninth largest trading partner and I hope that more Czech companies will invest in Spain,’ he said. With regard to culture, he said that ‘we will soon have the opportunity to get to know more Czech art, more artists will come to Spain, and I hope the same will happen in the Czech Republic’, where ‘a visit by a Spanish cultural artistic group is being prepared very soon’. Finally, he referred to what he considered to be ‘the most practical area, something that really brings something useful for the people, for our citizens’. He referred to the health and scientific collaboration between the Gregorio Marañón Hospital in Madrid and the Motol Hospital in Prague.
