As part of a charity evening, the Instituto Francés in Madrid, Laplace and L’Entraide Française are screening this afternoon at 8 pm, the film Jusqu’à la garde/Shared custody, by Xavier Legrand. Admission 10€. The proceeds will go to L’Entraide française. The screening will be in French with subtitles in Spanish.
Played by actors Denis Ménochet, Léa Drucker, Thomas Gioria and Mathilde Auneveux, this dramatic thriller tells of Myriam and Antoine Besson getting divorced, and she asks for the sole custody of her son Julien to protect him from a father whom she accuses of being violent. Antoine defends his case as a disdained parent, and the judge in the case rules in favor of shared custody. Hostage to the growing conflict between his parents, young Julien is pushed to the limit.
Shared custody highlights the devastating consequences of domestic violence through a family torn apart by divorce.
In his first feature, Xavier Legrand tackles heavy and moving themes through tense and realistic scenes. This film has won several awards, among which is the Silver Lion for Best Director at the Venice Festival and 4 Césars in 2019, including him for Best Picture and he for Best Actress.
