The Corridor is the quintessential Ecuadorian national musical genre and is sung in all regions and social strata. It is the most popular national music and forms part of the national identity. It is the national reference, it is the seed that gives origin to the sentimental manifestations of the coastal cholo, the montubio and also the city.
The corridor represents belonging, as it would be one of the characteristics that define the identity as Ecuadorians and distinguishes them from others. It also has certain characteristics acquired gradually in Ecuador, which distinguishes it from other varieties of corridor that are expressed in Colombia or Venezuela. In addition, the Hall is an essential part of the so-called “national music”.
