<h6><strong>The Diplomat</strong></h6> <h4><strong>The new ambassador of Andorra to Spain, Eva Descarrega, has presented the Copies of her Letters of Credences before the introducer of ambassadors, Adrián Martín Couce.</strong></h4> Eva Descarrega, who went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the 6th and replaces Vicenç Mateu in the position, becomes <strong>the first woman to head the Embassy of Andorra in Madrid.</strong> With extensive experience as a diplomat, which began in 1997, Eva Descarrega has held numerous positions in the Andorran Ministry of Foreign Affairs and in its diplomatic representations. Until her appointment to Madrid, and<strong> since 2019, she was the ambassador of the Principality to France and Monaco,</strong> as well as permanent representative to UNESCO and the Permanent Council of the Francophonie. From July 2023 to September 2024, she was also concurrent ambassador to<strong> Portugal.</strong> Between 2015 and 2018, based in Brussels,<strong> she was ambassador to the European Union, Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Germany and Slovenia.</strong> The ambassador, who will combine her position in Madrid with that of <strong>national coordinator for the Ibero-American Summits</strong>, has previously been <strong>Minister for the Civil Service and Administrative Reforms</strong>, as well as State Secretary for Justice and the Interior and Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among other positions. On social media, Eva Descarrega has expressed her satisfaction at assuming the position of ambassador to Spain, noting that she is beginning this new stage <em>“with enthusiasm and great responsibility to continue strengthening the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation.”</em>
