From 19 September to 13 October, the Teatro del Canal de Madrid present in their Sala Verde the classic El alcalde de Zalamea, by Calderón de la Barca, directed and version by José Luis Alonso de Santos.

With the unforgettable and famous phrase: “Honor is the heritage of the soul, and the soul is only of God,” this time the play features the interpretation of renowned actors and actresses such as Arturo Querejeta, Daniel Albadalejo, Javier Lara, Adriana Ubani and Jorge Basanta, among many others.

The work begins with the Spanish troops arriving in Zalamea en route to Portugal, in the 16th century. Captain Don Álvaro is housed in the house of the rich farmer of the town, Pedro Crespo, whose beautiful daughter Isabel kidnaps and rapes. When Pedro Crespo tries to remedy the situation, he offers goods to Don Álvaro so that he can marry Isabel, whom he refuses because she is of a lower class. Tickets can be purchased at this link.
