Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares met yesterday in Brussels with his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, with whom he discussed, among other things, the situation in the Middle East, where Turkey is trying to play a mediating role in solving the conflict between Israel and Gaza.
On his account on the social network X, Albares published, along with a photograph of the meeting, a message in which he said: “We have discussed our excellent bilateral relations, the positive EU-Turkey agenda and the situation in the Middle East where we are working for a ceasefire.”
Albares has spoken with Hakan Fidan throughout this year, among others during a visit to Ankara last March and more recently, when, at the end of May, the Spanish Government brought together a group of Arab countries in Madrid, before whom he defended the need to recognize the Palestinian State.
