From August 24th until 31s, an exhibition at Madrid Barajas Airport showcases posters that tell a story of support and gratitude. 13 bright posters walk a visitor through a narrative of how one post on social media could make a huge difference in the modern world of fast reactions and grassroots movements.
The exhibition at Madrid Barajas Airport is part of a Europe-wide campaign launched by the Ukrainian Institute to amplify gratitude for foreign support of Ukraine. The initiative started when a Spaniard wrote a small post in support of Ukraine and started a chain reaction of assistance.
On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine’s Independence restoration, the Ukrainian Institute is launching a groundbreaking campaign called The Smallest Support to highlight the immense gratitude of the Ukrainian people for the unwavering support from European nations and citizens.
“With this exhibition, we express our gratitude to all Europeans, the Spanish people, and the guests of Madrid for their unity and solidarity with Ukraine at this crucial moment in our history. Every action you take to support Ukraine brings us closer to our victory over the Russian aggressor. We appreciate it!” Serhii Pohoreltsev, Ambassador of Ukraine to the Kingdom of Spain.
The Smallest Supportcampaign will spread the messages of gratitude from Ukrainians throughout Europe.
“While Russian war against Ukraine may slowly fall out of media highlights, it rages on. Europe shows unwavering support for Ukraine. Ukrainians notice even what may seem the smallest expression of support: kind words, supportive tweets, or a UA flag displayed in a window. The Ukrainian Institute made these meaningful actions visible,” Kseniia Kalyna, Head of Communications, Ukrainian Institute.
From the biggest airport digital screens to unique miniature newspapers, the campaign is sharing the quotes from the social media, where Ukrainians thank people for their supportive content. One supportive post from a citizen of Spain, Germany, or Italy, — dozens of “thank you” comments from Ukraine.
The Smallest Support campaign includes digital materials in major European airports, such as Munich, Düsseldorf, Rome, Milan, Prague, Riga, Tallinn, and many more. These displays will show messages of solidarity from European supporters and heartfelt gratitude from Ukrainians on the digital screens. As part of the campaign, Miniature Newspapers, pocket-sized publications equating users’ posts to newspaper front pages will be distributed in busy cafés and local businesses across Europe. On 24 August, posters at simultaneous rallies will feature a ten-metre ribbon adorned with supportive tweets, symbolising the strength of the Ukrainian-European bond.
Campaign organiser: Ukrainian Institute, a public institution for cultural diplomacy established to improve the understanding and perception of Ukraine and Ukrainians around the world.
