Aquí Europa
The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, received yesterday in Pamplona the II International Navarra Puerta de Europa Award.
This recognition, which is part of the VI European Summer Courses, organized by Diario de Navarra and the youth association Equipo Europa, highlights Borrell’s “contribution to European construction.”
In his speech, Borrell stressed the importance of young people perceiving the European Union as “a balance between rights and responsibilities,” underlining the crucial role that the new generations play in the future of the European project.
The opening ceremony of the courses was attended by the President of Navarra, María Chivite, along with prominent personalities such as Joaquín Almunia, former vice president of the European Commission, and Enrique Barón, former president of the European Parliament. Serhii Ustymenko, Minister Counsellor of the Ukrainian Embassy in Spain, also attended on behalf of Ukraine.
The conference, which will take place on 26, 27 and 28 August under the motto ‘Renewed Europe’, seeks to be a space for reflection and dialogue between various actors, including politicians, young people, civil society, the private sector, the media and European and state institutions. The objective is to jointly address the challenges facing the European Union in the current context.
This Tuesday, in collaboration with the Navarre Youth Institute, a new edition of the Terraza Europa will be held at the emblematic Royal Palace of Olite, thus continuing the tradition of previous meetings held in venues such as the Media Luna Park, Roncesvalles and Javier.
