The Especio Ronda de Madrid (Ronda de Segovia, 50) presents next Sunday 1 September at 7 pm the concert of Sephardic and flamenco music, with the intervention of Tamar Ilana (in the photo) & Ventanas.
Tamar Ilana & Ventanas is a global music group based in Toronto, Canada, led by the powerful singer and dancer Tamar Ilana and featuring the world’s best musicians from the city. Drawing inspiration from the cultural and musical backgrounds of its members, including flamenco, Sephardic, indigenous, classical, jazz, pop and more, together they reimagine Mediterranean melodies and flamenco rhythms, mixing contemporary interpretations of ancient romances with original compositions. They have released three albums that were nominated for four Canadian Folk Music Awards and are now recording their fourth album. They have toured Canada, the United States, Colombia, Ireland, Portugal, and Spain. The group has the great honor to invite the flamenco guitarist Antonia Jiménez, and the ethnomusicologist Dra. Judith R. Cohen to share the stage at Ronda Space.
The group counts with Tamara Ilana, singing and dancing; Wafir S. Gibril, lute; Dennis Duffin, guitar; Jaron Freeman, violin, and Dani Carbonell, percussion.
