The Diplomat The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is finalising a new strategy for Africa which, in collaboration with the continent, will culminate in 100 proposals for actions for the African territory motivated by the "strategic interests" of Spain, which seeks a "closer association" with Africa. According to a statement from Foreign Affairs, the Executive is preparing a new strategy for its relations with the African continent since "there is a growing awareness that the present and future of Africa, its prosperity, its security and its progress" constitute strategic objectives "of the first order" for Spain. For this reason, the Ministry headed by José Manuel Albares intends to hold the last working meetings with governments, organisations, companies, civil society and think tanks - both African and Spanish - during the next few days with the aim of approving this new strategy during the month of September. The strategy aims, in addition to focusing on solutions for West Africa and the Sahel, to strengthen relations between continents, involve young people in the growth of nations, connect both societies and economies, protect the most vulnerable and live together in open and inclusive societies. Once approved on the basis of a diagnosis of the opportunities and challenges presented by the African continent, it will be finalized with the proposal of 100 actions that will put into practice the ideas developed jointly during the consultation process. Among them, emphasis will be placed on closer multilateral coordination at the level of both the United Nations and G20 and the EU.
