Michalis Ioannou will be the new ambassador of Cyprus to Spain, where he will arrive in September, The Diplomat has learned.

Ioannou will replace Helena Mina, who during the nearly four years she spent in our country, carried out an intense task to promote diplomatic relations between the two countries. The current ambassador returns at the end of this month to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Nicosia.

The new ambassador was in charge of the Embassy of Cyprus in Jordan, where he arrived in October 2020 and from where he also served Iraq, after having been director of the department of Eastern Europe, Western Balkans and Central Asia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
