The ambassador of Cyprus, Helena Mina, was appointed on 31 July last Academic of Honor in the Academy of Diplomacy, coinciding with the end of her mission in Spain.
After a word of appreciation from the General Secretary and Executive Chairman of the Academy, Santiago Velo de Antelo, and the Vice President in charge of Institutional and Consular Relations and General Coordinator of the same, José Carlos Ruiz-Berdejo y Sigurtá, the Cypriot ambassador wanted to thank the Board of this institution for "honoring me with the appointment as Honorary Academician".
"I’m not going to make a long speech, said Helena Mina, but what I would like to say on this occasion, which is also very close to my departure from Spain, this beautiful country, after 4 years as ambassador, it has been for me the highest honor to represent Cyprus in Spain. As you probably know, this has been my first post as ambassador and needless to say it is a post that I will always cherish in my memories, with special affection."
"The experience in this wonderful country has been magnificent, said the ambassador of Cyprus. Clearly, it has been 4 years, no doubt intense, during which in addition to having had the opportunity to know Spain thoroughly, far and wide, its institutions, its politics, its culture, With its people and varied geography, I have tried my best to put my hand to further boost relations between Cyprus and Spain at all levels. And in this sense, I’m leaving satisfied."
"In any case, it is not easy to leave a place that you love and appreciate, but this is the life of diplomats. And in the end, our diplomatic work always shows us the way forward and the way to progress.
The event was attended by ambassadors from Korea, Serbia, Portugal, Bulgaria, Monaco and Lebanon, among others, along with distinguished personalities of the diplomatic world and friends.
Numerous ambassadors, diplomats and friends wanted to embrace the ambassador Helena Mina on this day.
