The Diplomat

A military plane with medical and diplomatic personnel took off yesterday from the Torrejón base in Madrid to repatriate the Spanish victims of the sinking of the fishing boat ‘Argos Georgia’ in the waters of the Falkland Islands, according to official sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In an operation coordinated by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense, the plane took off at around eleven in the morning and is scheduled to return to Spain over the weekend, weather conditions permitting. A diplomat is travelling on board to monitor the repatriation of the Spaniards.

The aircraft will repatriate the bodies of the two deceased Spaniards and the six survivors, who are waiting in Puerto Stanley. Meanwhile, the search for the four missing people, including two Spaniards from the towns of Ribeira and Noia, in A Coruña, continues to be interrupted. Ten Spaniards were travelling on the fishing boat Argos Georgia when it sank in the waters of the Falkland Islands.
