The fourth International Conference on Financing for Development of the UN will be held in Seville in July 2025, as reported yesterday by the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, before the plenary session of the Congress of Deputies.
“I would like to announce that the city of Seville will host the fourth Development Financing Conference, which will take place in July 2025,” said the head of the Executive during his appearance to talk about the latest European councils and present the democratic regeneration plan. of the government.
“This is the second most important forum of all those organized by the United Nations,” he continued. “It is a decisive meeting to modernize the multilateral system and Seville is going to be the capital, not only of Andalusia but also of the world in 2025,” Sánchez added.
The assignment to Spain of the fourth Conference, which will take place between June 30 and July 3, 2025, was officially announced on February 23 by the United Nations, although without specifying a specific venue. As reported that day by the Government, the objective of this forum is “to implement the policies and mobilize the financial resources necessary to achieve the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals at a global level” and the election of Spain “evidences the leadership of our country in achieving consensus, opening to dialogue and building bridges between multiple actors.”
The first three conferences were held in Monterrey in 2002, in Doha in 2008 and in Addis Ababa in 2015. The latter adopted the Addis Ababa Action Agenda to provide a new global framework for financing sustainable development by aligning all financing flows and policies with economic, social and environmental priorities.
